Scientific support of healing architecture for designing healthcare buildings

Recently, ir. Anette Vilstrup Nielsen, ir. Chico Leufkens and ir. AnneMarie Eijkelenboom completed the course for EBD at The Center for Health Design in the United States of America. By obtaining the EDAC-certificate, EGM architects has additional expertise in the field of Evidence Based Design.

The built and physical environment affects stress of patients, safety of patients and staff, the efficient functioning of the teams and the quality of healthcare.

There is a lot of research and there is a lot of scientific evidence available, where the relationship between environmental factors, medical outcomes and quality of care quantitatively and / or qualitatively are measured and weighed.

An Evidence-Based Design process aims to rely design decisions for the built environment on reliable research and scientific evidence, in order to reach the best outcomes for health care.
