New construction hospital Adrz

The municipality of Goes is cooperating on the plan.

The municipal executive (mayor and aldermen) of the municipality of Goes is happy to cooperate with Adrz’s plan to build a completely new hospital behind the existing one. Adrz’s plan perfectly fits the municipality’s ambition to establish a health park. Both the health park and the new hospital will ensure that healthcare facilities for the region are maintained and strengthened. Further development and consultation with stakeholders will follow this fall, after which Adrz will apply for the environmental permit.

New Hospital

To continue providing the best possible hospital care in Zeeland, the hospital in Goes must be renovated. Adrz intends to build a new hospital behind the current facility. In this way, the existing hospital will remain operational until the new hospital opens. The new hospital is scheduled to open its doors at the beginning of 2029. John Taks, Chairman of the Executive Board Adrz, is very pleased that the designs are taking shape: "The new hospital will soon be well attuned to the needs of patients and employees. To this end, we held internal user meetings last month and these will be followed up this fall. The new building should be a place where we shape care in a different way; the patient journey will be personal and customized, we encourage patients’ self-management, and care will be digital if possible, provided by Adrz when necessary. We are working on a modern, sustainable, and future-proof building that fits in well with the surroundings. Close cooperation with the municipality and other healthcare partners enables us to respond to the changing needs of patients.

The new hospital will soon be well tailored to the needs of both patients and staff.

John Taks, Chairman of the Executive Board, Adrz

Health Park

The new Adrz building is in line with the Goes municipality's ambition to create a health park: a place where care, health, well-being, and supporting functions come together. The area around the hospital has been earmarked for this for several years now. In the coming period, the municipality of Goes will investigate how the health park can be developed, which will include a participation process involving the surrounding area.

Alderman André van der Reest: "Goes is the healthcare center of Zeeland. A new, professional and future-proof hospital in Goes is of great importance to maintain Zeeland's hospital care. It is not only good for the liveability and sense of safety of our residents, but also for the rest of Zeeland. That is why we are involving local residents and other stakeholders in the further elaboration of the plans around the hospital and forming a vision for a health park."

Accessibility

To improve access to the new hospital and the future health park, a new access road is required. This new road is important to ensure safe access for patients, staff, and visitors. The municipality, together with Adrz and local residents, is investigating what the new access road should look like.

Follow-up steps

In addition to further developing the design for the new hospital, work is also underway to secure financing. The environmental permit application is planned for this fall; this permit is necessary to be able to start construction soon. In addition, the municipality, together with Adrz and local residents, is investigating what exactly the new access road will look like. Stakeholders are involved in the plans. Earlier this week the first meetings were held with local residents. Further consultations will take place after the summer. At the end of 2025, the municipality will start drafting a vision for the health park.
