On 20 June, the very colourful ceremonies took place for the official start of construction for the Aspen Medical Hospital, in Depok (Western Java, Indonesia), a design by DHA.
In this project DHA (the joint venture of EGM architects and GAF architects) collaborates with Deerns and TeamworX, to realise a world class, state-of-the-art and sustainable hospital. This hospital constitutes a radical increase in availability of hospital beds, that are lacking in the region. The first phase of construction consists of 24,000 m², and represents a pilot project for the drastical modernisation of health care facilities for Indonesia. This social goal that Sanusa Medika strive for, is in line with DHA’s ambition to realise progressive international healthcare buildings. Buildings that make a difference for people who are in need of health care.
During the ceremonies, along with the size and importance of modernisation of cure & care in Indonesia, also the collaboration of the international partner companies was emphasised. Indonesia’s economic development has been contrasting sharply with the availability of adequate health care facilities. Sanusa is realising the hospital in name of the Indonesian and Australian joint venture partners. They have chosen DHA’s expertise in order to provide excellent care for the people of Western Java.

Sanusa’s goal is to build 20 brand new hospitals in Western Java. Depok is the first of these projects, others will follow soon. Within the task at hand, sustainability, wellbeing and efficient operations are all closely linked. The innovative, flexible designs of these buildings furthermore contribute to decarbonisation, an active goal within the modernisation of hospital care in Indonesia.
